Evolutions Volleyball: A Long Beach Tradition

Evolutions Volleyball is proud to celebrate its 31st summer season on the sands of Long Beach, NY! Family-owned and operated, our journey began in the winter of 1988, with the first official summer league launching in 1989. Back then, just 12 teams made up our 6-man league, playing 11 weeks of spirited matches on the courts at Grand Avenue.

From those humble beginnings, Evolutions has grown into a true summer institution in Long Beach. Over the years, friendships have been forged, romances have blossomed into marriages, and children have grown up with volleyball as part of their lives. Many of our players have even gone on to become some of the area’s top competitors, representing the very best of Long Beach and New York volleyball.

Today, Evolutions Volleyball hosts three thriving divisions. Monday nights are dedicated to our Recreational 6’s, while Thursday nights feature both a Competitive 6’s Division and additional Recreational 6’s play, divided by East and West. With nearly 1,000 players and more than 150 teams, we welcome athletes of all ages and skill levels—men and women, novices and veterans alike.

Every summer evening, our players come together to enjoy fierce rallies, unforgettable sunsets, and the unbeatable energy of Long Beach’s beaches. Evolutions Volleyball is about more than the game—it’s about community, competition, and creating memories. We are endlessly grateful to our players and to the City of Long Beach for making this league the vibrant, enduring tradition it is today.
